Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Sub 40:00 10K
  • 2:59 Marathon
  • 1:25 Half Marathon
  • 18:30 5K

Long-Term Running Goals:

Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.

I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.

Personal:

Dad of  three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.

I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.

(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.

I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:

Forward Progress!

Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Grateful Blog

Love living in Florida but love to travel and see the country and rest of the world.

Good for a Monday. Ran alone and just ran whatever pace I felt like, which was about a 10:00 for the first mile, then faster after that. Pleasantly muggy and gel'd up at the water stop with a tangerine Gu.

Ran with Chris H, Nicole S. and Lisa R. in the nbhd. Ran together until the water stop where we had our gel "picnic", then Chris and I turned right for a little bit longer run. Good recovery miles after yesterday's run in the AM and bootcamp in the PM

Short run in the nbhd with Jenny , Chris H. , Lisa R. and Nicole S. No gel today but I did wear my new (but last year's model) Ghosts.

All the usuals, and all at the same time - Nicole S. , Lisa R. , Chris H., Kathryn L. and of course Jenny ran together to the water stop for some brief water cooler socializing, then Chris and I turned right while everyone else headed back. Mostly easy pace except for a quick pick up at the end.

Ran with Jenny in the neighborhood this morning. Picked up the pace after a warm up mile, felt good and it was lots of fun.  I was caught a little off guard but held up ok.  Usually Friday's are a slower paced run with a pretty good sized group.  Once we started going, Jenny said we'd go faster but not too fast - keep it at about an 8:30 pace, but we were soon in the 7:30's.

Ran in Starkey park on the bike trail with Chris H. up until 6.5 miles, then he went on further. Turned back and had a good return trip. Saw a bobcat and 2 deer. Glad to finish the week with some decent miles.  I kept the last 6 miles under an 8:00 pace and felt pretty good both breathing wise and injury wise - 7:54, 7:39, 7:40, 7:38, 7:38, 7:41

Later in the afternoon we started talking about our oldest dog, who has been with us for 17 years, and was not a puppy when we got her.  She had been having trouble walking for quite some time and always looked in pain and for a while now was steadily losing bowel/bladder control.  She had some good moments on some days but it was just not getting any better.  So, we made the decision that it was time to put her down.

Here is Chelsea from 6 years ago, along with Andy, myself, and Thomas.

So, long Chelsea, you will be missed.
