Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Sub 40:00 10K
  • 2:59 Marathon
  • 1:25 Half Marathon
  • 18:30 5K

Long-Term Running Goals:

Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.

I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.

Personal:

Dad of  three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.

I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.

(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.

I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:

Forward Progress!

Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Grateful Blog

Love living in Florida but love to travel and see the country and rest of the world.

PM - Fast Tuesday's 5k

19:52  (Garmin distance 3.17) 4 second PR on this course, 10 second improvement from two weeks ago.

Third time trying this race and ended up with my fastest time.  Weather was typical, mid 80's but less wind than two weeks ago.  Warmed up with 0.7 miles combined easy running and a couple of quick strides.  Many of the same people were there and several new ones including Jeremy who I hadn't seen for a while.

Race started with a verbal "bang" from Michael and Bernie on the bike out in front of the leader.  Felt good through the first mile although I felt like I was slowing down a little towards the end but still ended up with 6:04.  Next mile my pace seemed to fluctuate a bit.  I concentrated on staying faster than 6:26 to try and break 20:00, managed 6:20 on the second mile.  Ok, just hang on one more mile.  Felt like my pace was slipping away for the first half of the third mile, in the low 6:30's until about the last 0.3 when I picked it up just a little bit and finally managed to get back under 6:30, finishing the third mile in 6:27.  Ran the last bit at 6:12 pace.

Splits: 6:04, 6:20, 6:27, 1:02 (0.17@6:12)

AM - 5.4 mi, 50:03, 9:16 avg, HR 125 avg, 135 max

Ran from Longleaf along Starkey Blvd bike trail.  Tuesday morning Striders run.  Just out and back to water stop.  Felt very warm on the run up but had a nice breeze on the return trip.  Ran about a half mile with Rob Fulton before he turned back and headed home.  Will try the 5k tonight.

Short and easy run while waiting for the AC guy to show up.  I didn't want to miss him so I did the last mile running up and down the street near my house so I wouldn't miss him in case he got there early.

PM - 3.18 mi, 27:19, 8:35 avg

Ran with the "hump day hustle" group meeting at Longleaf.  Ran on the Starkey Blvd bike trail.  I picked up the pace of the last mile 7:11 after doing the first two miles in the 9:xx's

I ran with Jamie in the neighborhood.  She got back last night after her trip to Buffalo to bury her 22 year old nephew, celebrate her niece's wedding, and celebrate her own birthday.  I wore my heart rate monitor but was not monitoring it.  But, looking back at the miles there was a gradual pace increase accompanied by gradual heart rate increase but it all stayed within the easy feeling range.  Weather was pretty nice again this morning.

I had a massage yesterday afternoon from Strider Tracy who is fairly new at it with her license finalized about a month ago but already with an excellent reputation from all of the practice work she did while a student.  It hurt.   But, fortunately does not hurt today and I think I am noticing a difference, but usually I feel the best two days after a massage.
