Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Sub 40:00 10K
  • 2:59 Marathon
  • 1:25 Half Marathon
  • 18:30 5K

Long-Term Running Goals:

Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.

I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.

Personal:

Dad of  three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.

I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.

(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.

I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:

Forward Progress!

Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Grateful Blog

Ran with Thomas around the neighborhood loop. Stopped a few times to walk, but went pretty quickly during the run portions. Then, went swimming afterward to cool down.

This was the first time in a long time (actually, maybe the first time ever), that Thomas asked to go for a run with me.  I hope he stays motivated!

6.08 mi 00:50 08:09 pace

Ran with Striders at Longleaf for Memorial Day run. Started at 6:45 and was already about 80 degrees, but at least there was a breeze!

After the run, came home, got ready, then took the kids mini golfing at my favorite place - Congo River Golf.  They have live alligators there that you can feed.  And then, since it was relatively close by, drove to an actual record/cd/dvd store called Soundexchange.  There are three locations, all kind of far from me, but I think this is the only place left like it.  Stopped by Wendy's for lunch before heading home and relaxing the rest of the day.

PM

1.7 mi, 19:00, 11:10 pace

Did another run around the neighborhood loop with Thomas, followed by some swimming. A bit warmer tonight than last night.

A few sprinkles at the start of the rain, but the heavy stuff didn't come down til after the run (outer remnants of tropical depression Beryl). Ran with Eudair, slowed down for miles 4 and 5 after going out at a good pace despite the humidity. Did a few sets of weights afterward inside. Nice to see everyone this morning.

It was actually a little bit scary, because I felt like I had no choice but to slow down, I thought it should have felt easy, but due to stress and the high humidity, and not being that far out from the 50 mile race, probably nothing to worry about.

One hour of intense work. Sweating like crazy about 10 minutes into class. About 50 minutes of actual spinning followed by squats and core work.

Decided to not go for a run afterward.  Was feeling kind of worn down :(

6.26 mi, 00:52, 08:14 pace

Ran out to the bridge with Eudair, then ran back from there with Michelle H. who was running by herself. Nice pickup at the end.

Today's run might have been the best feeling run all week.  Temperature was back down slightly (about 76 degrees) from what it had been a few days this week (about 79 or 80 degrees).

....and finally caught up on the blog!!

.....now, to catch up on a few more things in life, doing what I can do

I did recently get the poor, neglected boat fixed, now I just need to try it out and figure out a way to sell it fairly quickly.

Dog is getting fixed next (no, I mean really fixed, he has a torn ACL for about the past 8 months), has surgery next week.

P.M. - ran the neighborhood loop with Thomas, a little bit faster than last time (1.7 miles in 17:41)

6.07 mi 00:52 08:30 pace

Between the rain last night and more this morning, there was a window of time to go for a run on the wet streets.

Did another swim-run-swim combo with Thomas tonight. We stopped even less tonight than last time.

Ran from Longleaf at 5:30, starting out with a few people. Went a little bit into the park then turned around. I felt better than I thought I would at the start of the run, but the second half was not as good as it usually is - not bad in the overall scheme of things, just not the usual feeling good second half I often have. Maybe it was the humidity.

Lots of stuff happening today, my son tests for his second stripe red belt - just one level away from probationary black belt.  I am so proud of him and can't believe how fast time is flying.
