Maintain my health and continuosly seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.

Would like to complete ultra marathon some day also as well as a triathlon. I'd mention Badwater but that might get some people close to me worried :)

I've made a list of marathons around the country and world that I'd like to complete (there are 18 so far)

Personal:

Married with two kids. Our whole family trys to stay active. My kids have done great in Tae Kwon Do along with my wife who has her black belt. She is a very healthy cook and has recently been cooking lots of vegan and vegetarian recipes.

The flight last night was delayed almost one hour, so it was pretty late when we arrived back home.   Feeling a little bit run down this morning and slightly pressed for time I thought about sleeping in a little bit longer.  But finally, I decided that something was better than nothing so I went to the Y for some core work, stretching and 3.6 miles on the treadmill (that's when my time ran out).   I didn't feel great immediately afterwards, but in the end I think it was helpful and am feeling better now.

Hopefully I am setting myself up for better things tomorrow morning.

Tracy, that's a good question. Basically it was a lot of base miles run between a little bit slower and a lot slower than goal marathon pace, a tempo run almost every week, and a few sessions of speed work at the track. I'm not sure how much good the speed work was but it at least gave me a psychological boost to show me how fast I could run if needed.

Running was typically 5 days a week. I put together a training plan using Runner's world SmartCoach which I used as a basic guide. It was helpful as a guide although there isn't much unique about SmartCoach it's pretty basic. I suppose I liked it because I could see it all printed out in front of me.
