  • 2:59 Marathon
  • 1:25 Half Marathon
  • 18:30 5K

Long-Term Running Goals:

Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.

I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.

Personal:

Dad of  three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.

I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.

(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.

I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:

Forward Progress!

Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Grateful Blog

Great 20 mile run in Starkey Park with Raj and Eudair.  Weather was perfect, low 60's, cloudy (it rained later that morning, so lucky to miss it).  Met up about 6:15, warmed up a little bit and then got going.  Started out with Raj, Eudair, and Derek.  Derek was with us for about 4 miles.  I brought my Flip video camera with me and took about 9 minutes worth of video (but it was very shaky, I'll have to see if I can fix it up).

Went out to the end of the Starkey park bike trail, then headed north onto the Suncoast parkway trail, until we reached 10 miles.  Turned around and then felt the wind right away.  It seems you hardly ever notice the wind at your back, just when you turn around.  Wasn't too bad, and it was only directly at us until we turned back onto the Starkey park trail, then it was a bit calmer.

I went ahead by myself with about 5 miles left, then really picked it up for the last two miles with 6:45 and 6:34.  Hadn't done a 20 mile run in a while so it was good to finish this and feel good at the end.

Average pace: 8:06

Missed out on the social hour but grabbed some leftovers as David was packing up.

Later in the evening I took another shot at the Wii push-up challenge.  This time I was prepared and did all 100 push-ups.  It was pretty hard because you have to do them slowly according to the whistle, down, back up, pause, repeat.

Great 20 miler! The last couple of miles were awesome and really shows your endurance for this time of year.

A 20 miler with a fast finish, and then 100 push-ups? Impressive.

Do you have to do the push-ups with your hands on the balance board? It seems like that would make it harder, at least more uncomfortable.

Thanks Jim, Sam, and Carolyn.

Next marathon coming up is the Gasparilla Marathon here in Tampa, at the end of February, coming up fast now.

Yes, I had to do the push-ups on the balance bard which makes it harder because you can't spread your hands to wherever feels easiest.
