Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Sub 40:00 10K
  • 2:59 Marathon
  • 1:25 Half Marathon
  • 18:30 5K

Long-Term Running Goals:

Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.

I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.

Personal:

Dad of  three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.

I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.

(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.

I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:

Forward Progress!

Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Grateful Blog

After work, and before heading out to dinner with customers, stopped by the local running store to get a new pair of shoes.  Wanted to try something lighter, so they suggested these shoes - the Brooks launch.  I went over to Longleaf this morning to run with this group at 5:30. Several people commented on my new shoes, probably because of the very loud color, hope these work out ok.

For most of the run I ran with Keisha and Alex, sticking with them for most of 6 miles.  I dropped off the bottle of water I was carrying then headed out for a little over 2 more miles.  I went faster for the last two miles and the shoes felt nice and light on my feet.

Average pace: 8:10

After socializing for a little bit, headed back home, swam for a few minutes then did the Inflict workout, which I had been thinking about skipping but did not really have a good reason for skipping it.  But before getting started, I kept on having to do things - pick things up, feed the fish, feed the older dog, let the dogs out and back in, water some plants, and feed the gerbil.  There's more that needs to be done but I had to get going to work at some point. Can't wait for Jenny and the boys to come home!

I have those same shoes for females---they are hot pink. But dang it, they hurt to run in! Go figure. So I wear them to the gym when I do weights and everyone loves them! Hope they work out for you. Nice job on a super tough run! And was is an inflict workout? Does it inflict pain or what???? I have never heard of that before.

Man, your Boston time is awesome!!! Nice job!

Cool shoes, Mark.

Kelli, Inflict training is a cross training, circuit style workout that my wife found. You can download these for an Ipod Touch or Iphone, or you can just look at them online at: www.inflicttraining.com

The first time I did it, there was a little bit of pain infliction involved but then other workouts weren't so bad. Good core and general strength training workout.

Great shoes Mark... Wondering how come you have shoes that last over 400 miles.. I can't even get 200 miles on mine, after that they are completely worn out on the heel...

That looks like a good workout! I only have an iPod shuffle (nice and tiny for running). But I can see the little pictures pretty good. I will have to give it a try. THANKS! I am always hunting for a workout program to follow and that one looks doable!
